870: FUNDAMENTALS
Students will apply skills in the fundamentals of hair cutting, styling, coloring, chemical applications, skin, and nail care techniques while applying safety principles designed for the client and salon. Students practice sterilization and sanitation techniques while applying safety principles designed for the client and salon. Students will study principal methods vital to the hair, skin, and nails.
871: SANITATION
Students apply skills in infection control, properties of the hair and scalp and basic skin care learned in theory to anatomical models and clients on the clinic floor. Students will practice sterilization and sanitation techniques while applying safety principles designed for the client and salon. Students study the history and opportunities of cosmetology, personal management and communication skills, the professional image, the principle and practices of infection control, properties of the hair and scalp, and histology of the skin. Students learn First Aid and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
872: HAIR & SCALP
Students apply skills in shampooing, rinsing, conditioning, haircutting, hairstyling, and hairpieces learned in the theory to anatomical models and clients on the clinic floor. Students practice sterilization and sanitation techniques while applying safety principles designed for the client and salon. Students study the principles of hair design, shampooing, rinsing, and conditioning of hair, haircutting, hair styling, braiding, braid extensions, wigs, and hair enhancements.
873: CHEMISTRY
Students apply skills using hair relaxers, soft curl permanents and applying proper ratios when mixing chemicals for hair services learned in theory to anatomical models and clients on the clinic floor. Students practice sterilization and sanitation techniques while applying safety principles designed for the client and salon. Students study the principles of the basics of chemistry and electricity and chemical texture services.
874: CHEMICAL SERVICES
Students apply skills in permanent waving and hair coloring learned in theory to anatomical models and clients on the clinic floor. Students practice sterilization and sanitation techniques while applying safety principles designed for the client and salon. Students study the principles of chemical texture services and hair coloring.
875: ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY
Students apply skills and techniques used in providing facial massage and treatments and make-up applications learned in theory to anatomical models and clients on the clinic floor. Students practice sterilization and sanitation techniques while applying safety principles designed for the client and salon. Students study the principles of the basics of anatomy and physiology, basics of chemistry and electricity, facials, and facial make-up.
876: HAIR REMOVAL & NAILS
Students will apply the skills in hair removal, treatments of nails, manicures and pedicures learned in theory to anatomical models and clients on the clinic floor. Students practice sterilization and sanitation techniques while applying safety principles designed for the client and salon. Students study the principles of the basics of hair removal, nail structure and growth, manicuring and pedicuring, advanced nail techniques, drug abuse and Florida law.
877: BUSINESS
Students apply skills learned in theory by demonstrating professional behavior on the clinic floor. Students perform hair removal, hair, manicure and pedicure services to anatomical models and clients on the clinic floor. Students practice sterilization and sanitation techniques while applying safety principles designed for the client and salon. Students study the principles of the business of cosmetology, specifically the salon business, seeking employment in the cosmetology field and skills to apply while on the job. Review of all theory concepts in preparing for the Florida state board exam.
878: PRINCIPLES
Students apply skills learned in theory to anatomical models and clients on the clinic floor including hair design, coloring, facials, chemical applications, hair removal, and manicure and pedicure services. Students practice sterilization and sanitation techniques while applying safety principles designed for the clients and salon. Students review the principles and skills of the Cosmetology profession in preparation for the Florida State Board exam.
879: STATE BOARD PREPARATION
Students prepare for the State Board Examination by applying theory principles to anatomical models and clients on the clinic floor. Students practice sterilization and sanitation techniques while applying safety principles designed for the client and salon. Students prepare for the State Board Examination. Emphasis is placed on test preparation and completion of paperwork.
