Fortis College is located at 3354 Perimeter Hill Drive, Suite 200, Nashville Tennessee 37211 and was initially founded as Medical Careers Academy. The Academy offered programs in Clinical Care/Coding Technician, Coding Technician, Phlebotomy Technician and EKG Seminar. After the first year of ownership, Clinical Care/Coding and Coding Technician were discontinued.
Employer’s Medical Co-Op, Inc. purchased Medical Careers Academy and added the Medical Assistant program in January 1994. In May of 2001, KIMC Investments, L.P. acquired Medical Careers Academy. The Surgical Technology Program was added in September 2002. In January 2003, the Academy was approved to conduct business as MedVance Institute of Baton Rouge.
The Nashville branch campus, known as MedVance Institute, was licensed in January 2005. In December 2009 Education Affiliates, Inc. Purchased MedVance Institute and the institute name was changed to Fortis College.
