Veterans’ Benefits

Fortis College is approved to participate in a variety of education and training benefit programs administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Students interested in using VA education benefits should contact the Financial Aid Office for information regarding eligibility requirements, the application process, and required documentation.

In accordance with 38 U.S.C. § 3679(e), the institution will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, denial of access to classes, libraries, laboratories, learning management systems, or other institutional facilities, or require a covered individual to secure alternative or additional funding because of a delay in payment from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). A covered individual who is eligible for educational assistance under Chapter 31, Chapter 33, Chapter 35 of Title 38, United States Code, or Chapter 1606 of Title 10, United States Code, will be permitted to attend or participate in the approved course of education while payment from the VA is pending. This protection applies from the date the student provides a valid Certificate of Eligibility, a Statement of Benefits obtained from the VA website, or other documentation authorized by the VA, and continues until the earlier of the date the VA provides payment to the institution or 90 days after the institution has certified the student's tuition and fees following receipt of the required documentation. To qualify for these protections, students must submit all documentation required to certify their enrollment and use of VA educational benefits in a timely manner.

Student Complaint Process for VA Educational Benefits

Students receiving Veterans Administration (VA) educational benefits who wish to file a complaint regarding the institution are encouraged to first follow the school's internal grievance procedures. If the concern is not resolved or if the student prefers to submit the complaint directly to the VA, complaints may be submitted through the VA GI Bill® Feedback System at https://www.benefits.va.gov/GIBILL/Feedback.asp. The VA will review the complaint and coordinate with the appropriate parties, including the institution and the applicable State Approving Agency, as necessary, to investigate the matter and work toward a satisfactory resolution.
