Accreditation, Licenses, and Approvals

Institutional and program assessments are conducted periodically by qualified examiners and members of the College’s accrediting body and/or by accrediting teams. The purpose of these assessments is to examine and evaluate compliance of the College’s programs, staff, and faculty with accrediting standards and state and federal regulations.

Licensure indicates only that minimum standards have been met; it is not an endorsement or guarantee of quality. Licensure is not equivalent to or synonymous with an accreditation by an accrediting agency recognized by the U. S. Department of Education.

  • Fortis College is a branch campus of Fortis College in Centerville, Ohio which has institutional accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), 2101 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 302, Arlington, Virginia 22201. ACCSC is an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Fortis College is licensed by the commission for Independent Education, Florida Department of Education.   • Fortis College’s Practical Nursing program is approved and the Associate Degree in Nursing program is on probationary status by the Florida Board of Nursing, 4052 Bald Cypress Way, Tallahassee, FL 32399; 850-245-4125, https://floridanursing.gov/.
  • The associate degree nursing program at Fortis College located in Cutler Bay, Florida is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) located at 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30326. Phone: (404) 975-5000. Initial Approval by the ACEN on March 7, 2018, is a five-year grant of accreditation. Students may receive a copy of the College’s accreditation, licensure, or other approvals by submitting a written request to the Campus President.
