Sociology is the systematic study of the relationship between human beings and society. In this
course students examine basic sociological principles, concepts, and theories in the context of human
culture, societies, the socialization process, and various types of stratification. Students also explore
and compare the various historic, cultural, and social frameworks of the world and learn to appreciate
unique cultural identities. In addition, this course helps students learn to analyze and interpret historic
as well as contemporary social issues in the U.S. and around the world.
